Document retrieval (or text retreival refers to the algorithms and methods used ot query and loacte doucments in large information systems. In a structured database queries often use indices for specific keys, but within a document retreival system a free text index is usually required. More complex text processing may be used to computer similarities between documents or looking at human usage patterns for recommender systems to suggest potential documents.
